1. Remove the catch tray from a
standard hole puncher so you can see punch positioning. NOTE: you will only need the hole puncher for 1” dollhouse scale thread labels.
If you are unsure of
yourself and want a practice piece first, merely
trace the unit on plain paper before cutting pieces.
Make a practice unit with the plain trace.
2. Position thread spool label as shown in photo, and punch out all labels.
3. Tape two long slender sewing needles tightly together. This is a tool for winding paper.
The needle tool is very helpful for making the
Paper Minis™ pencils and cigars as well!
With my arthritic
fingers, I find this to be the hardest Paper Mini to
assemble. Sometimes just winding the paper around a
single needle will work best for me at that
particular time. SEE THE TUTORIAL FOR MAKING PENCILS
AND CRAYONS FOR AN ALTERNATE METHOD.
4. Slide end of spool shaft strip between two needles. It should be snug and not slip out. Wind strip loosely. Compare the circumference to the labels. If it is too tight, just loosen the paper a bit.
5. Glue end of stripe with a quick-grab craft glue. If it is too small for you to handle, you can leave the paper on the twisting tool and glue.
6. Glue label to spool shaft (I switched to a blue shaft for the photo).
7. Glue second label to spool shaft.
8. Finished product. You may want to use real thread and wind around shaft.
