Pyramid Stack Blocks
Tools for Assembling Paper Mini’s Kit:
- Metal straight-edge (ruler).
Make fold lines by pressing against the edge of the ruler.
- White craft glue that is a
“quick-grab” “clear-dry” type of glue.
- X-acto blade tool and fresh
blade
- A true cutting mat (cardboard
will ruin your project and your blade)
- Small flat artist brush to use
to apply glue neatly
- Small piece of aluminum foil to squeeze work glue onto.
This will act as your glue pot.
- Small detailing scissors,
a.k.a. as embroidery snips
- Tweezers
- Cotton Swab
Assembly Instructions
1. Use the X-acto tool to cut out all pieces. There are only a few
absolutes in paper engineering and the first is to use a true
cutting mat. Otherwise your purchased product will have ratty edges
that will stand out like a sore thumb.
2. Take
the largest block. Fold at all fold lines (refer to the
finished set in the photos below). You
will see the shape of miniature appear when folds are in place. The
second absolute in Paper engineering is use a sharp
edge, like a metal ruler to fold against. This will give
you a smooth crease, especially when you are using heavy
paper. Do a test and you will see the comparison.
3. Take the
folded block. Squirt a small pool of glue onto your
aluminum foil "glue pot." Use the paint brush to glue the four tiny tabs
found along the sides
to the interior blank surface of the respective sides. This forms an
open based block. The third absolute in paper engineering is to use
a quick-grab, clear-dry craft glue. Old-fashioned soupy white glue
will only serve to make a mess of your project
4. At
the base of each block is a tab shaped panel, fold these inward into
the inside of the block. Paint glue to the blank side of these
panels then fold back up into the interior. Use tweezers to squeeze these
bonds. This makes the edges thin and uniform so that the smaller
block will nest nicely into the larger block.
Repeat for all blocks. Note: allow the blocks to complete dry before
nesting them.
5. The
assembly for the storage box is the same as the assembly of the
blocks. Make sure to use your tweezers to create a thin bond along
the box opening edges. Allow the glue to dry before fitting the box
top.
