Metal
straight-edge (ruler). Make fold lines by
pressing against edge of the ruler. See the
on-line tutorial for “Ann’s Tool Box”.
White craft glue
that is a “quick grab” “clear dry” type of glue
and glue stick. Bonds that are harder to
position, you will use the glue stick.
Tweezers, cotton
tipped swab, small artist brush, X-acto knife,
small good embroidery scissors, aluminum foil to
squeeze work glue onto and use as a work
surface.
Glue Tab A to front of
house. Glue Tab B to front of house for one long
piece for house exterior. Use the white “quick grab”
glue for all bond except where otherwise indicated.
If you are unsure of
yourself and want a practice piece first, merely
trace the unit on plain paper before cutting pieces.
Make a practice unit with the plain trace.
Fold dollhouse pieces at
all fold lines including all the tabs. Fold front
edge of beige Persian carpet and glue in place on
blank side.
Take beige “copyright”
panel and glue to bottom of beige carpet. Use a glue
stick for this bond. The beige panel is the bottom
of the finished house.
Glue bottom room’s
ceiling to top room’s floor (blank sides together).
Use a glue stick for this bond.
Glue the back walls of
the 1st and 2nd floors to the shell of the house.
Use a glue stick for this bond.
Glue the edging of the
top room’s ceiling to its blank side (its blue).
This gives the top floor ceiling a finished edge
like the one you did for the bottom floor.
Place a layer of glue to
all four ceiling/floor tabs (blank side) found on
the left side. Line up the bottom room’s floor with
the bottom edge of the house’s outer shell. Do the
same with the top room’s ceiling.
Slip the two interior
side walls into the rooms slightly to make sure the
middle floor is lined up properly. Don’t push the
side walls all the way in, because you may not get
them back out. But you don’t want crooked floors
with the glue drying for you can’t reposition this
glue type. Bring the interior side walls back out.
Press down on all 4 tabs with tweezers.
Place glue on the blank
sides of the two interior side walls and push into
place inside the house. Use the tweezers or cotton
swab to press down edges.
Repeat the last 3 steps
for the right side of the house.
View of both rooms
completed.
The eaves are on all
four sides of the roof. Use a straight edge ruler
and fold the eaves down and glue to blank side of
the roof.
Place glue liberally to
the tabs found at the top of the side walls. Also
place a line of glue along the top edge of the house
front and back. The roof will rest on these edges.
Gingerly position the roof onto the glue and work at
keeping it securely on the house until the glue is
completely dry.
Fold chimney at fold
lines. Take the chimney and glue down 4 red edging
tabs. Glue side tab to blank side of chimney shaft.
Fold the two tan colored
tabs found at the base of a chimney. Apply glue to
the tan surface and place chimney to roof top. Align
it with the top of the left dormer window.
Repeat for second chimney and align it with the top
of the right dormer window.
