Shelf Wall Unit (This is the old style, the new
style has a wood insert)
Required tools and
supplies:
X-acto knife and fresh
blade
Metal straight-edge
ruler to use to press against and make perfect
creases
Tweezers
Cutting mat
Detailing scissors
Fast-grab, quick-dry
white craft glue that dries clear
Small piece of aluminum
foil to use as a glue pot
Artist's paint brush to
apply glue
1. Create a 3-d plank
box for the shelf. Use a straight-edge ruler to make
perfect creases. If you find you have too much
difficulty with the thicker stiff paper piece, use
the optional thinner paper piece.
If you are unsure of
yourself and want a practice piece first, merely
trace the shelf unit on plain paper before cutting
pieces. Make a practice shelf unit with the plain
trace.
2. Fold the back and
side unit as shown in the photo.
3. This shows the
folds again from another view.
4. Glue the folded
portions in place. Then take the detailing scissors
and cut around curved side pieces.
5. Glue the
little side tabs (4 in total) in place. Place glue
on long tabs as shown here.
6. Carefully and
slowly adhere and press in place the large panel
onto the gluey tabs.
7. Place glue
along the three yellow edges of the shelf.
8. Line up the back of
the shelf along the back of the case and press
tight. Then press sides against shelf. Make sure the
shelf is lined up and level within the case.
