Generic Standard Can Assembly (Kits available after September 2007)
Required tools and
supplies:
X-acto knife and fresh
blade
Good cutting mat
Detailing scissors
Fast-grab, quick-dry
white craft glue that dries clear
Small piece of aluminum
foil to use as a glue pot
Artist's paint brush to
apply craft glue
Optional: hole
punch for can lids (5/16")
1. A 5/16" hole punch
is just a little smaller than the lid, otherwise
just use your detailing scissors.
NOTE: other can
kits and projects may not be the same sized
circumference. Therefore, hand-cut the top and
bottoms with scissors
2. Cut out lids and
strips of cans. Do not cut blank area
away from can!
3.
Wrap length of can body around the shaft of a
cutting tool, pen or X-acto Knife handle. This give
a clean curvature to the the can body.
4.
Position the end of the can strip so that the
label meets end-to-end.
5.
Paint a dab of glue to the end of the strip and
hold in place until glue is dry.
6. Shape can
coil to a perfect circle. Dab glue to coil's rim.
Place a lid to the glue and work until it's as
straight as possible on a can body as round as
possible.
7. Repeat the
previous step for the bottom's lid.
